As the owner and principal consultant, Mr. Espinasse overseas all research efforts at PBE Research Consulting. He is a seasoned intelligence research professional with broad experience in: ​​

• Competitive Intelligence (CI) Research & Analysis 

He possesses: 

• A proven track record in successfully conducting client-commissioned technology and business projects across numerous industry sectors (general engineering, electrical, optical, materials, energy, automotive, aerospace, lifesciences, pharma, biotech, medical devices & diagnostics and others)

• Expertise in competitive intelligence, market, and patent/intellectual property (IP) research

• Technical background in electrical/optoelectronics with emphasis on semiconductor technology

• Graduate degrees in business and engineering (M.B.A. and M.S.E.E.)

• 160+ articles published in a wide variety of leading technology publications with topics focusing on: 

  • Project management, market research, and competitive intelligence activities 

  • Technology developments in the electrical/optical sectors

  • Semiconductor processing and chip design

In his previous position with a global research and advisory firm, Mr. Espinasse consulted for over a decade with corporate and academic client organizations worldwide of all sizes, across numerous industry sectors, to identify innovative solutions to business and technical challenges. He delivered and communicated critical actionable intelligence to his clients, by conducting research activities including business, technology, patent / intellectual property (IP) research, and a wide variety of competitive intelligence (CI) and market research activities.

Mr. Espinasse has worked directly with organizations of all types and stripes to address their market, patent/IP, and competitive intelligence needs, including (but not limited to):

• A combined 12 years of technical journalism experience serving as an editor and technical writer for IEEE GlobalSpec, Key Enterprises d/b/a MSP Communications (Minneapolis, MN), and VerticalNet, where he reported on leading and innovative product/technology developments, R&D efforts, business/news in the electrical and optical industries.

• 5 years of semiconductor industry experience in R&D, engineering, and sales & marketing with PolarFab (now known as Polar Semiconductor), a MN-based semiconductor fabrication / manufacturing facility, where he initiated an internal competitive technical intelligence program to track relevant semiconductor trends and device specifications in support of the company’s R&D and product development efforts.
